Deputy National Sports Authority director Bawa Majeed has said the Accra sports stadium will only be used for national games. NSA deputy director told Kumasi based Akoma FM,
“In this region of the world, many believe that the facility belongs to the state and that it is the state’s responsibility to maintain it. So you have teams that patronize the pitches around, but they are not interested in assisting pitch managers in preserving them.”
“Moving forward, we will ensure that the status is maintained; we will not take the pitch maintenance lightly and will not put pressure on it. “
“We will designate a facility for the national team, which will remain available to them whenever they are called to service, and we will ensure that the facility is protected. Nothing else than sports will take place at the facility. “
“As we speak, the Accra Sports Stadium has received CAF and FIFA permission, and it will be operated as a national facility, which means no extracurricular activities will take place there.”
