Blackstars AFCON Qualification Chances Are Slim- Angola Coach
Angola prepare to host Ghana in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers on November 15, head coach Pedro Goncalves has acknowledged the significance of facing the Black Stars.
In the opening game of the qualification campaign, Angola stunned the four-time African champions at the Baba Yara Stadium marking the beginning of an almost failed mission to qualify for the tournament.
“Ghana is one of the best countries in African football, with wonderful players, especially in midfield and attack,” Goncalves said.
However, he believes Ghana’s qualification chances are slim. “Ghana’s chances are very low… It doesn’t only depend on them but also on Sudan, who need just a point from two matches to qualify.”
Angola tops Group F, while Ghana sits third with two points from four games.
With about eight players withdrawing from Ghana’s latest squad, the West Africans face an uphill battle tougher than expected as they hope to salvage their fortunes.
