Hearts of Oak and Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, known as “Mr. Clean Sheets,” has opened up about his football journey from Division One struggles to becoming Ghana’s number one.

“I’ve really struggled to reach this level. I spent most of my time in Division One before joining the Premier League in 2021,” he said.

He revealed that former Ghana keeper Richard Kingson (Olele) encouraged him to work hard and seize his chance in the national team. He spoke with Kaninja

Asare, who has played in Germany and Turkey, said football was tough at the start but he never gave up. He remains humble despite his form.

“I don’t see myself as the best. Every game is a chance to improve,” he added.

Inspired by Manuel Neuer, Asare says he handles Black Stars pressure easily thanks to his experience at Hearts of Oak. A proud Shatta Wale fan, he said he’s loved the musician since his Bandana days.

He thanked the fans for their support and promised to keep making Ghana proud.
