From Teshie to Barcelona-Hafiz Gariba’s journey to the heart of Spanish football

Ghana’s football talent continues to shine abroad, and this time it’s 18 year old Hafiz Gariba catching attention in Spain. The talented defender, born in Teshie, Accra, currently plays for FC Barcelona Juvenil B and is fast becoming one to watch.
Gariba started his football journey with Zinaps FC before being discovered by coach Humphrey Bortey, who helped him move to Spain two years ago. He joined the Fundacion Marcet Soccer Academy, where his impressive displays earned him a move to Barcelona’s youth setup.

Before joining the Catalan giants, Hafiz also featured for Villarreal CF Africa, gaining valuable experience. Standing at 1.90m, the left footed centre back is known for his calmness, strength, and ability to play confidently from the back.

In 2025, Hafiz made his UEFA Youth League debut for Barcelona U19 in a 2-1 win over PSG a huge milestone for the young Ghanaian.
