Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Justice Blay has publicly apologized for remarks made during a live interview on Pure FM Sports, acknowledging that his emotionally charged statements may have caused offense to the club, its supporters, and former teammates.
During the interview, Blay made a series of explosive claims regarding his time at Kotoko, including allegations of favoritism within the club’s leadership, off-field misconduct by teammates, and personal betrayals involving romantic relationships.
His revelations sparked widespread debate across Ghana’s football community, with many questioning the timing and tone of his disclosures.
In a formal statement released by the JBLAY Foundation on July 11, 2025, Blay expressed deep regret over the incident. He admitted that his comments were influenced by lingering emotions tied to his departure from the club and emphasized that it was never his intention to tarnish the reputation of Asante Kotoko SC.
“I take full responsibility for my words and understand the importance of communicating with greater professionalism and respect,” Blay stated. “Asante Kotoko holds a special place in my heart and has played an instrumental role in my growth and career as a professional footballer.”
Blay’s apology extended to the club’s management, technical team, players, and the passionate Kotoko fanbase. He reaffirmed his appreciation for the opportunities he received during his tenure and pledged to learn from the experience, both as a player and as a person.
The apology comes after a turbulent exit from the club at the end of the 2024/25 season, which was marked by mutual contract termination and public scrutiny over Blay’s conduct.
