MTN FA Cup:Kotoku Shinning Stars FC Knock Out Hohoe United FC On Penalties
Division two League side Kotoku Shinning Stars FC knocked out Hohoe United FC from the 2024/2025 MTN FA Cup, winning 5-4 on penalties in a preliminary stage on Sunday.
The game ended 1-1 at the Hohoe Sports stadium which meant penalties would decide the winner of the one-leg tie.
The first half ended goalless, both clubs were not able to find the back of the net.
After recess the home team got a penalty and they converted beautifully. Kotoku shinning stars put pressure on Hohoe United to equalize the only goal scored by their opponent.
Both teams converted their first four spot kicks, but Hohoe United missed their fifth penalty allowing Kotoku shinning stars FC to take advantage and secure a 5-4 win.
It means Hohoe United FC will have to wait for another year to compete for another title.
Kotoku shinning stars had a good start in the game making incursions but could not break the deadlock, which made the home team took advantage to score first goal.
